Additional Information
Perilla frutescens (L.) Britt. (PF) is a Lamiaceae mint that is used for medicinal, aromatic, functional food, and ornamental purposes. Perilla’s origins can be traced to East Asian countries (China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, and India), where it has long been prized for its culinary and traditional medicinal properties. P. frutescens leaves, seeds, and stems are utilized in folk medicine for a variety of therapeutic purposes.
Active compounds in Perilla could be classified either as hydrophilic (phenolic acids, flavonoids, anthocyanins) or hydrophobic (lipophilic) ones (volatile compounds, triterpenes, phytosterols, fatty acids, tocopherols, and policosanols.
The bioactivity of Perilla has been discovered to have antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-allergic, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and neuroprotective properties.
Quercetin and perilla
Allervex tablets include quercetin, a flavonoid derived from the inflorescences of the Japanese pagoda tree (Sophora japonica) and a perilla frutescens dry extract. Rosemary acid, as well as other flavonoids such luteolin, apigenin, and chrysoeriol, are abundant in perilla. The herbal ingredients in Allervex have been tested for purity.
